Singstar

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

We played
Singstar PS2 at buenzli last week.
And I must have it.

The next party is comming fast …

I won.

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

Just got a phone call.

I won some lottery game (that I can’t remember ever having played).
Well, I didn’t win anything real.
I just won a “free” ticket for a lottery.

No catch. (i asked … twice).

All they wanted to now was my bank account info.
Via the phone.

Hello. Anybody home ?

So maybe I lost the opportunity to win another million.
But maybe I saved myself from getting my money stolen from my account.

Call me paranoid, but I develop(ed) the software that runs the transactions …

Kernel 2.6.8 - Framebuffer

Monday, August 23rd, 2004

Last weekend I tried to update to 2.6.8 (from 2.6.7),
but the vesa fb driver seems to be broken.

1. I get a message about vga=834 being invalid (that should be 1400×1250@16bpp, which I have been using for quite a while now)
2. The screen totally gets scambled under the console. I can startx after booting blind and it is working, but that is very unsatisfactory.

Will stick with 2.6.7 and wait for 2.6.9 :(

Used it for some gothic … or so …

trickle

One of the tools I really like,
but always forget the name of when I really need it.

trickle - a lightweight userspace bandwidth shaper

’nuff said.

empeg

Monday, August 16th, 2004

After a long time I finally decided to play with my empeg MKII again.
Well, I use it everyday,
but I never touched the software anymore.

Anyway:
- Upgraded to 2.0 final Developer Image
- Upgraded hijack to 411
- Installed emphatic had some trouble with 2.01 so I’m now up to 2.03

This is the display mode I’m using right now:

<display_mode name=”Anti III” visual=”None”>
<hscroll attr=”$(artist:format=$: )$(source:format=$)$(year:format=($))” font=”small” color=”bright” bgcolor=”transparent” y=”1″ x=”1″ width=”128″ speed=”10″ pause=”0″ show=”ifnotempty”/>
<line attr=”$(bpm:format=$)” font=”small” color=”bright” bgcolor=”black” y=”1″ x=”-1″ width=”0″ show=”ifnotempty” time=”+00:00,10″/>

<line attr=”[$(ppos)/$(plength)]$( s:ifshuffled)$(!!:ifmarked)” font=”small” color=”bright” bgcolor=”transparent” y=”28″ x=”-1″ width=”0″/>
<line attr=”$(trackelapsed)/$(tracklength)” font=”medium” color=”bright” bgcolor=”transparent” y=”26″ x=”10″ width=”0″/>

<hscroll attr=”$(title) ” font=”gimungous” color=”bright” bgcolor=”transparent” x=”1″ y=”8″ width=”128″ speed=”10″ pause=”5″/>
<playerscreen blendmode=”normal” burnin=”false”/>
</display_mode>

And this is what it looks like:

I’ll have to get the large font to gain some real estate to improve on this…

Mera Luna

Thursday, August 12th, 2004

Went to the Mera Luna Festival last weekend.

Had a great time.
Too much sunshine, but it’s still better than rain.

The organization was slightly better than last year, but still far from good.

Shower and toilets wer clean and comfortable,
but the quantity was a bit low.
Imagine 25.000 people and 50 showers…

The band lineup was good, but some bands didn’t get enough time compared to others.
Chamber got 30 minutes, while Blutengel got 70 minutes.
(Hey, if I want to see Pop, I go to the dome…)

Pilze

[backlog]

iPod

Wednesday, August 4th, 2004

So everybody seems to be pretty hyped about the new iPod.
OK, the specs look alright;
And the price is cheap … considering the included Apple-TAX.

But after recent experiences with Apples-Support and -Service I’ll keep as far away from iPods as I possibly can.

If I get one for free, I’ll probably use it for some gravitational experiments…

spongebob

Wednesday, August 4th, 2004

Can anybody tell me why an adult in his right mind would ever watch spongebob squarepants ?

It’s just stupid.
I mean the stupit stupid, not even the funny stupid.

ZEN-STYLE | Fool’s World Map

I know a few people who would actually think this map is correct.

I get a headache simply looking at it.
