Almost forgot to tell you.
I finally switched to a real "news system".
Just ordered some stuff from

again.
It's time to fix those gadget pages...
Just defeated grendel :)
Lunch?
I'm playing around with various stuff.
Here should be a scene related button:
An update for the homepage is in the queue.
Just waiting for the backup to finish and then I'll start a major rework.
(Haha, just joking. Only minor cleanups.)
This morning I had a big mouth,
about being able to write a (simplistic) PNG loader
that is working on the GP32.
Now (5 hours later, including 20 minutes coding) I did it :)
It's not perfect.
No...
...interlaced images.
...filtered images.
...non indexed images.
But more than enough for demos and games.
get it here
...but almost all stuff is already at the new server.
Only (major) item left on my list is switching the nameserver and point to the new (=this) site.
cron 2
and it looks like it worked...
cron
should be updated within the next 15 minutes ... worst case.
more testing,
I hope to have an I/F to delete this soon...
Just hacked a small interface to submit news via a webbrowser.
Now I should be able to update from (amlost) anywhere.
I'm just in the progress in consolidating all my websites onto my own (new) server. Some stuff is still broken, but other stuff is working like charm.
I got a new (cheap and big) host to put all the large stuff (screenshots, photos, files, etc) on.
This needed a bit of restructuring.
The photo lists are now built via xslt (xalan) and wml,
not nice, but functional.
I'll have to redo the whole photo thingy database driven,
but that is for later.
blue2 just got a new harddisk (60GB IBM)
That should give me some room to breathe....
Just added stoned to freshmeat.
Check it out here
I'm kinda busy right now,
but one of the high priority topics on my list is to clean up
gkrellMMSi.
Promised.
Just hold your breath a little bit longer.
Take a look at V0.1.1
And this is a reminder of what it looks like:

I got it working. Stable.
But I had to disable AGP (BIOS).
Now it's almost unusable slow in 2D mode.
I guess I'll have to invest some money into a GeForce2 (now that the 4 is announced I'm sure prices will drop).
Connected Green again.
Installed the newest nvidia drivers. (Green has a TNT2 M64).
They are fast like hell :)
But the system freezes after 60 seconds :(
hmmm ... I should have fixed my Voodoo instead of buying this nvidia crap.
forgot to dump the database on the old system.
chroot is your friend ;)
New system up and running.
DSL working.
dyndns updater working.
Apache OK.
mysql OK.
squid OK.
bind OK.
Hey it's almost back to 100%.
At least nobody will really notice the difference.
I still have to fix exim (or maybe postfix),
since my dynamic IP is listed at mail-abuse.org and sourceforge is using that blacklist :(
Downgraded the chrooted system on blue2 (aka purple) to binutils 2.9.5.0.37-1 (the version from stable)
to be able to compile 2.4.18pre7.
Will install grub now to be able to boot into the new system.
And then we'll see what breaks.
(I installed blue2 (aka purple aka red) over 6 years ago and it grew from there,
so I'm not quite sure what is needed.)

Long time no update, so here's the rundown:
Purple:
Kernel upgrade to 2.4.12.
Memory upgrade to 256MB.
Internal network interface upgraded to 100MB/s.
Broken S3-Trio64 replaced by ATI Mach64VT.
Green:
Kernel -> 2.4.12
Network IF -> 100MB/s
Black:
Kernel -> 2.4.14
The CAM is working again.
DVD:
I bought a cheap (~$140) hardware player.
Empeg:
Upgraded to 2.0-beta3.
I just did an:
cat /var/log/apache/access.log | grep cmd.exe | wc -l
on PURPLE.
the result ?
6019
Yes. These Windos loosers start to annoy me.
I always said everybody should use what he likes.
It's time to fight back ...
cat /var/log/apache/access.log* | grep cmd.exe | cut -f1 -d" " | xargs -n 1 nuke
Sorry, if you just inherited a dialup IP, but if this works you're in trouble anyway...
Is history.
The last 3 month I've been writing a "Save New York" clone.
You remember that old C64 game ?
You were a jet pilot that was supposed to shoot the aliens and keep them from destroying the skyscrapers.
Well,
everybody who ever played it will surely know who usually destroyed what.
This(=my) version had an improved building-destruction engine and authentic skylines.
I decided to do an "rm -rf" on the CVS repository of it.
(It's just not right to flight planes into buildings.)
It's gone ....
It hurts, but I lost some friends last tuesday - and that hurts a lot more.

After wrecking GKrellMMS with the last few patches,
I made the icon add-on a standalone GKrellM plugin.
Get V0.1.1 and tell me what you think.
I never hit the problem,
but apparently last weeks gkrellmms patch broke the whole thing.
It only occured when you closed xmms or cleaned the playlist.
(My playlist is so long, that I simple never changed it.)
Here's the fix
Note: You'll need the original patch and this fix.
I'll create a cummulative patch within the next days.
A picture says more than thousand words,
so I added a song dependend icon to GKrellMMS 0.5.5.
Check the patch.
And since a picture says more than thousand words:

BTW:
GKrellMMS is a GKrellM plugin.
Changed the way the timestamp was printed.
Now it's at least guessable.
Check the Living Room Cam to see it in action.
When I saw the new Buell last week, I just had to do this:

If enough people want that background I'll clean it up and upload it.
No updates for a while.
My entry extraction code was broken due to problems with FastTemplates and PHP4.
It's fixed now.
(As you can see, when you read this.)
Worked on the scene members and productions.html pages.
Upgraded to motion 2.6.3, so the readability of the time stamps on the living room cam should be much better now.
I'm still in Denver.
Radix will move out next week, but he might have a replacement.
My skating is gradually getting better. (Read: I fall less, but harder.)
I might have broken a few things in the process,
but everything seems to be OK ... so far.
I'm a bit disapointed of the orga, they simply forgot to tell me, but anyway ...
It looks like I won't be able to be there, since I'm supposed to be in Denver CO at that time,
but it will be some good fun anyway.
Last week - while I was ... offline - Evan renamed loserjabber to logjam and released a new (IMHO much better) version.
Now I only have to make this work with my own server.
Or simply user the old loserjabber for my servers and logjam for livejournal;
That would also solve my multiple config file problem.
I just upgraded to motion 2.6.0 (from 2.5.0) and now the timestamps on the living room cam should be readable.
I still have to work on the daily-video generation scripts, but sampeg works like cream and has quite good picture quality.
I'll keep you posted.
Some time ago I started listing the records I've put onto my car radio.
Take a look at them.
(Sorry, but this is in german.)
This should be a cleaner solution to post to a different server.
PATCH against LoserJabber 2.1.5.
Next usefull thing could be an "use this config file"-option.
If you can read this the news/events scripts work perfectly.
This item has been entered through loserjabber (patched version) and added via wget and wml.
Working on the scripts.
This should make life so much easier ...
I wasn't quite satisfied with the result so far,
so I reworked the templates a bit more.
And I worked on the fake/scene-history page.
I got some good feedback from my friends over at The Webmaster Forums and will think about that over the weekend.
As soon as I finish off these templates I'm gonna check out the graphics for this page.
Any suggestions for the logo ?
More work done.
It's almost there.
I think I have to go over the templates again to speed up the generated HTML.
(Less tables, more info for the renderer, etc.)
BTW:
I use WML to generate these pages.
I did the first few updates over the weekend.
This might get good looking after all ....
I think I have to redo my templates.
They are quite old now.
The good thing about wml is that you don't have to think about your content when redesigning.
Well, a bit, but not much.
... if this works I can use loserjabber to add news items to my homepage.
